Fatal Crash Closes Eastbound Lanes on South Loop 289

 

LUBBOCK, TX — Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit reported a crash early Thursday morning on the 3600 block of South Loop 289.

At approximately 2:00 a.m. on October 16, officers responded to reports of a reckless driver and discovered two vehicles involved in a crash. 

According to a release, one person was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others were transported to UMC with moderate injuries.

The eastbound lanes of South Loop 289 were closed from Slide Road to Indiana Avenue, with traffic diverted to the Quaker Avenue exit. Drivers were advised to avoid the area, but it has since been cleared.
