LUBBOCK, TX – A semi-truck collided with a house early Tuesday morning near US 84, east of Littlefield, before leading authorities on a pursuit across multiple counties.
The Texas Department of Public Safety issued a press release on the incident on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident began around 7:00 a.m. when a Truck Tractor Semi-Trailer (TTST) crashed into an unoccupied home just outside Littlefield's city limits. The driver fled the scene before DPS troopers arrived.
Troopers located the semi-truck on US 84 in Hockley County and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver, however, refused to comply, resulting in a pursuit. The chase ended in Lubbock County at the intersection of US 84 and FM 2378 after troopers deployed tire spikes to stop the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Misgna Teweldemedhin, a 42-year-old male from Columbia, Maryland, was taken into custody without further incident. He was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on the following charges:
- Duty on Striking Fixture/Landscape
- Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle
No injuries were reported from the crash or pursuit, and the incident remains under investigation.
