Wreck on I-20 Halts Post-Christmas Travel

RANGER, TX — A semi-truck lost control on I-20 near Ranger, Texas, this afternoon, blocking westbound traffic.

The crash happened just after 2:00 p.m. on December 27. Damage to the semi-truck and guardrail is seen, but no injuries have been confirmed.

Both westbound lanes of I-20 are currently closed, and traffic in the area is backed up for miles, causing delays for holiday travelers.

As the Texas Highway Patrol continues its holiday traffic enforcement campaign, which started on December 20 and runs through the end of the year, authorities are urging drivers to stay alert.

In a statement from the Texas DPS earlier this month, Colonel Freeman Martin noted the importance of traffic safety during the busy holiday season. "During the holidays, our roads are busier than ever, so safety must remain a top priority," he said.

DPS officials are also reminding drivers to remain focused on the road. “I again want to remind Texans to be alert, put your phones down, and make driving your sole focus when you’re behind the wheel,” said Colonel Martin. “If you see emergency vehicles stopped along the side of the road, move over or slow down—it’s the law.”

Drivers are advised to expect delays and plan alternative routes as authorities and crews work to clear the scene.
