Plane Crash at Lubbock Executive Airpark

LUBBOCK, TX — A plane crash at Lubbock Executive Airpark was reported at around 10:45 a.m. Jan. 3. It appears that the mishap aircraft departed the prepared surface about halfway down Runway 17/35, the only paved runway that measures 5,144 feet long according to AirNav.com.

Initially we heard reports of smoke that could be seen from miles around. However, if there was smoke initially, the fire has been extinguished.

Reported arrivals and departures to or from Lubbock Executive do not offer many clues about what kind of plane crashed.

The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office identified the pilot and passenger as Jeremy and Lacie Wilson, both 43 of Lubbock. The LSO said both were injured in the accident and were rushed to University Medical Center. No details are available about the extent of their injuries.

The aircraft appeared to be a single engine type, likely a low wing Piper.
