69-Year-Old Bicyclist Seriously Hurt in Crash with Pickup

 

LUBBOCK, TX — The Lubbock Police Department is investigating a crash that left a bicyclist seriously injured in Central Lubbock on Saturday afternoon.

According to a press release, on March 1, at 4:49 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of 50th Street and Wayne Avenue.

James Brock, 25, was driving a pickup truck east on 50th Street when Dennis Whaley, 69, rode his bike on the sidewalk and moved left onto the roadway. Whaley then collided with the right side of Brock's truck.

Whaley was seriously injured and taken to University Medical Center. Brock and his passenger, Mia Hite, 27, were not injured in the crash, says LPD.

The investigation is still ongoing.
