Silverton Man Killed After Car Rolls Into Ditch in Hale County

 

HALE COUNTY, TX — A fatal crash in Hale County early Tuesday morning resulted in the death of a 70-year-old man from Silverton, Texas.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that Eloy Reyna, 70, was killed in a single-vehicle crash at approximately 7:20 a.m. on March 4 on FM 400 near County Road Z.

According to DPS, Reyna was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala northbound on FM 400 when he came to a sharp curve in the road. The vehicle left the roadway and traveled into the east ditch, where it rolled over and came to rest upright.

Reyna was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered fatal injuries in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene by responding authorities.

Weather conditions at the time of the crash included rain and high winds, and the road was wet. 

The posted speed limit on FM 400 is 75 mph. DPS has not yet confirmed whether weather, speed, or other factors contributed to the crash.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is still investigating the crash, and more information will be released as details become available.
