LOVINGTON, N.M. — The Lea County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occured last Thursday evening at the intersection of East Avenue D and South Industrial Road.
According to a release from the Lea County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the scene around 5:30 p.m. on April 24.
Investigators say Francisco Gonzalez Garcia, 33, of Lovington, was ejected from his vehicle during the crash. He was rushed to Nor Lea Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The second vehicle was carrying a mother and her two children. All three were taken to the hospital for evaluation and have since been released.
The Sheriff’s Traffic Division is still investigating what led to the crash.
No further details have been released.
