73-Year-Old Woman Killed in Rollover Crash on US 87

 

LUBBOCK, TX — A 73-year-old woman from Wilson, Texas, was killed after a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 87 early Friday morning.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred approximately 8:30 a.m. on May 23, about 0.31 miles north of FM 41

The driver, identified as Jennifer Ritter, was traveling northbound when her 2016 Honda CR-V veered off the roadway, entered the east barrow ditch, and collided with a dirt embankment. The vehicle then rolled over and came to a stop on its roof.

Ritter was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to University Medical Center by EMS with life-threatening injuries. She was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

DPS says the road conditions were dry, and the weather was clear during the crash. The posted speed limit on U.S. Highway 87 is 60 mph.

The investigation remains ongoing.
