Semi Hauling Crane Crashes Into Overpass, Snarls Traffic on I-27

TULIA, TX — A semi-truck hauling a crane crashed into the FM 928 overpass early Monday morning, closing southbound I-27 between Tulia and Kress.

Below is a video of the crash from Leonel Vasquez on Facebook:

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at around 7:25 a.m., and the driver suffered only minor injuries. The crash caused significant damage to the overpass structure.

TxDOT is reportedly at the crash site assessing the damage and making plans for repairs. Officials say the overpass will remain closed for an extended period, though it’s not yet clear how long the southbound lanes will remain shut down.

Traffic is currently being detoured to the west service road at the exit just before FM 928

Drivers should expect delays and consider alternate routes.
