TAHOKA, TX — A Lubbock man was killed Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 380 and FM 179 in Lynn County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Jonathan Torres, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene after the 2020 Chevrolet Express van he was driving collided with a trailer being towed by a 2020 Freightliner truck tractor.
Preliminary findings indicate Torres was traveling northbound on FM 179 shortly before 1 p.m. when he entered the intersection and struck the trailer being towed westbound on US 380 by a vehicle driven by Matthew Ulman, 61, of Temple. Ulman sustained minor injuries and was taken to Lynn County Hospital District in Tahoka. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
Road and weather conditions were reported as dry and clear at the time of the crash. The speed limit in the area is 75 miles per hour.
