Colorado Man Killed in Crash Near Lubbock

 

LUBBOCK, TX — One person was killed and two others injured in a head-on collision early Friday on U.S. Highway 84 in Lubbock County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened around 3:57 a.m. Friday, about half a mile northwest of County Road 3100. Investigators said a 2025 Nissan Altima, driven by 51-year-old Brian King of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was traveling northwest in the inside lane of eastbound US 84 when it collided head-on with a 2023 Ford F-250 towing a trailer.

King was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock, where he died Saturday. Authorities said he was wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Ford, 28-year-old Daniel Martinez of Navasota, and his passenger, 26-year-old Megan Kmiec, also of Navasota, were both taken to University Medical Center with moderate injuries. Both were wearing seatbelts.

The crash remains under investigation.
