DALLAS, TX – A video resurfacing on social media shows a gang assaulting a Dallas man on the side of the road, prompting Dallas Police to acknowledge the presence of the Venezuelan gang “Tren de Aragua” in the city.
The footage, which reappeared recently on X via “Libs of TikTok”, depicts a group of men violently beating a man on the ground, repeatedly kicking and hitting his head while his body goes limp. Gunshots are also heard in the background.
The video initially circulated in 2023.
Since the resurfacing of the video, the Dallas Police Department confirmed to The Daily Mail that “Tren de Aragua” has established a presence in North Texas and is involved in severe criminal activities.
“We have had gang activity in the north Dallas area linked to the Tren De Aragua gang from Venezuela,” Dallas PD spokeswoman Jennifer Pryor told the Daily Mail.
The gang is notorious for its involvement in sex trafficking young girls and women, as well as exploiting fellow Venezuelans. Its criminal activities have spanned from New York to Miami to Denver and now into Texas.
Before the Dallas PD’s confirmation, there were rumors that Tren de Aragua had been active in North Texas for at least a year.
“Our department is working with other agencies to tackle potential crimes associated with this and other gangs in our city,” said Pryor.
Tren de Aragua members have been gathering with other Venezuelans in northern Dallas, an area known as “Villa Dallas.”
Since the gang’s arrival, the neighborhood has been plagued by illegal street racing, assaults, shootings, and extortion attempts.
Estimates suggest that the Venezuelan population in the Dallas-Fort Worth area is at least 20,000, with many residing in northern Dallas.
Tren de Aragua has also emerged in Aurora, Colorado, where they have taken over an apartment complex. According to a Colorado law firm, the gang began infiltrating Whispering Pines Apartments in late 2023 and has since been linked to violent assaults, murder threats, extortion, and child prostitution.
The gang has also been reported to be in Chicago, where members are associated with narcotics and weapons charges.
