CLOVIS, NM – According to a press release, Clovis Animal Control received a report on September 10th, 2024 at about 12:03 pm a group of found puppies. The caller mentioned that the puppies seemed injured and were crying.
Animal Control Officers arrived at the scene to discover four newborn puppies that had been discarded in a dumpster inside a white plastic bag. Tragically, one puppy was deceased, while three others were still alive.
Officers reviewed surveillance footage from the dumpster area, which showed a brown SUV with extensive "bondo" repairs driving through the alley. The driver was seen tossing a bag into the dumpster before backing out and leaving the scene.
The release stated the surviving puppies were still newborns as their eyes were closed and umbilical cords attached. Animal Control found foster care providers who will need to bottle-feed the puppies.
An investigation into the animal cruelty case is underway.
