LUBBOCK, TX — Jesse Sifuentes has been indicted by the Grand Jury on multiple charges following a violent confrontation with his ex-girlfriend, Erika Mullins, on October 19, 2022. The indictment includes allegations of intentionally causing bodily injury and recklessly discharging a firearm in a residential area.
According to court documents, officers were dispatched to a residence on E. 47th Street in Lubbock in response to a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived, they found Mullins with visible injuries, including bruises and scratches. Mullins reported that Sifuentes, her ex-boyfriend, showed up at her window, displayed a firearm, and demanded she come outside. Fearing for her safety due to previous assaults, she complied.
Once outside, Sifuentes attempted to forcibly take Mullins' phone from her bra, ripping her shirt in the process. As she tried to escape, he threw her against a chainlink fence, causing further injury. Witnesses stated that Sifuentes fired three shots with a revolver-style pistol at Mullins as she ran back into her house, one of which struck the front window.
Inside the residence were two other individuals: Diana Ixla, who was asleep on the couch directly under the window that was hit, and Jacob Mullins, who was in a bedroom. Both reported fearing for their lives due to the gunfire.
Mullins initially went to the Lubbock Police Department's East Division Station but found no officers present. She later called 911, expressing concern about Sifuentes potentially returning.
Court documents indicate that Mullins was unaware of Sifuentes' exact whereabouts but suggested he might be staying with his new girlfriend, Savannah Stanford, in Shallowater. The documents do not clarify how Lubbock Police located and arrested Sifuentes for booking.
In a follow-up interview with Officer David Paulk, Mullins described the argument that started the violence, stating that Sifuentes had been dropped off by his current girlfriend, Savannah Stanford. She confirmed that Sifuentes displayed his firearm during the confrontation. Court documents state that Mullins would be terrified of retaliation if Officer Paulk contacted Sifuentes for questioning.
Jesse Sifuentes is facing serious charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and reckless firearm discharge, and is currently held on a $255,003 bond set by a magistrate judge.
