CLOVIS, NM — The Clovis Police Department has introduced a new program to reduce retail crime.
The New Mexico Organized Retail Crime Association (NMORCA) program brings together local retailers, law enforcement, and state and regional lawmakers to share information about retail theft and the groups involved. The goal is to prevent theft, reduce losses, and keep prices from rising.
According to a release, a two-day operation was conducted in Clovis at two retail stores in late July. The operation, which involved the Clovis Police Department and the New Mexico Department of Justice, led to four arrests, six criminal summons for shoplifting, and 10 individuals being trespassed from the businesses. The release states that the operation showed working together could help reduce retail crime and prevent price increases.
Retail businesses are encouraged to join NMORCA to help reduce theft and protect their profits.
