Dallas Cop Accused of Selling Stolen Guns from Department

DALLAS, TX — A Dallas police sergeant is facing federal charges after allegedly selling stolen firearms from his department.

Thomas Michael Fry, 52, was indicted on three counts of possession and sale of a stolen firearm, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas said on Monday, January 27.

An indictment claims that Fry stole at least three 9mm Sig Sauer pistols from the Dallas Police Department Southeast Patrol Division between August 2021 and July 2022 and then pawned them at a shop in Oklahoma.

“Police officers have a sacred duty to uphold the law. Instead, this sergeant betrayed his department and his community by allegedly pawning stolen firearms.” said acting U.S. Attorney Chad Meacham. "The U.S. Attorney's Office will not hesitate to pursue charges against law enforcement officers who fail to live up to their oaths."

An indictment is merely an accusation, and Fry is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. If convicted, Fry could face up to 30 years in prison. He also faces three additional charges of theft of a firearm at the state level.
