Lubbock Woman Arrested After Starting Fire on Property

 

LUBBOCK, TX — A woman was arrested Monday morning after a disturbance caused a fire on a property in the 4100 block of East Auburn.

Around 10:30 a.m. on February 3, the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a woman, later identified as Karla Renteria Rueda, 32, trying to break items on the property. 

About 10 minutes later, a fire started in a 5th-wheel trailer and quickly spread to the surrounding grass on the property.

The Idalou Fire Department arrived and was able to extinguish the fire before it spread further.

No injuries were reported.

Rueda was arrested at the scene and taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center. She has been charged with Arson of Habitation. According to the Lubbock County Jail Roster, her bond is set at $75,000.

The investigation is still ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information is released.
