LUBBOCK, TX — A 21-year-old man was arrested after court reports stated he threatened his partner and refused to provide his ID during his arrest.
According to court documents, Lubbock Police officers responded to a call about a verbal domestic disturbance at a home on the 3000 block of Lehigh Street.
When authorities arrived, they heard yelling from the back alley. As they approached, an officer witnessed Devan Hanks, 21, standing near a woman carrying a backpack full of belongings and walking away from the house.
Before announcing himself as an officer, the responding officer said he heard Hanks yell at the woman, telling her, “If you don’t leave, I’m going to (expletive) you up” while standing directly behind her with a raised fist.
The woman appeared to be crying and trying to flee away from him.
Officers quickly determined that Hanks and the woman were in a domestic relationship. Documents state he was arrested for making a terroristic threat after allegedly threatening to hurt the victim in front of the officers.
When police arrested Hanks, he was repeatedly asked to provide his identification but refused. Police confirmed his identity through the victim, and when the officer ran his name through LPD Dispatch, his record revealed an outstanding warrant. Court reports did not specify the charge of the warrant, but documents state his new charge, Failure to Identify as a Fugitive from Justice, claims he is a fugitive of the law.
Devan Hanks was charged with Terroristic Threat of Family/Household, with a bond set at $2,000, and Failure to Identify as a Fugitive from Justice, with a $1,000 bond. Hanks is currently being held at the Lubbock County Detention Center with a total bond of $3,000.
