Woman Charged With 4 Counts of Arson After Trailer Fire

LUBBOCK, TX — A 55-year-old woman was arrested and charged with arson after a trailer fire spread to nearby properties in the 3600 block of North County Road 2770 on March 6.

According to the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, emergency calls came in at approximately 6:03 p.m., reporting that a mobile home was on fire. Due to dry conditions and overgrown brush in the area, the fire spread to nearby vehicles, mobile homes, and a camper trailer.

Firefighters from multiple local departments, including Wolfforth, West Carlisle, Roosevelt, Idalou, Buffalo Springs, Ransom Canyon, Woodrow, and New Deal, responded to the scene, along with the U.S. Forestry Service, the Department of Public Safety, and Buffalo Springs Police.

By 7:30 p.m., the fire had been contained to the affected properties, but firefighters continued to work on hot spots.

All residents of the affected structures were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. The Red Cross was called in to assist those displaced by the fire.

LCSO later identified Ava Hannon, 55, to have started the fire and faces four counts of arson.

Hannon remains in custody at the Lubbock County Detention Center as authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire. Her total bond amount is not listed at this time.
