PLAINVIEW, TX — A man from Plainview pleaded guilty to charges of producing child pornography.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Officer for the Northern District of Texas, Alejandro Aguirre, 28, made his plea before U.S. Magistrate Judge Amanda "Amy" R. Burch and was immediately taken into custody while awaiting sentencing.
According to court documents, in June 2023, the Amarillo Police Department began investigating Aguirre after receiving reports that he was contacting minors on a social media platform and had engaged in sexual activity with at least one of them. A 16-year-old victim, who was interviewed by authorities, confirmed that Aguirre had sexually assaulted her in Amarillo.
During questioning, Aguirre admitted to having sex with the minor and recording the encounter on his cell phone. APD detectives obtained a search warrant for Aguirre’s phone, where they found a video of the assault. However, the victim in the video was not the same 16-year-old girl who had been interviewed.
A further investigation by the Plainview Police Department identified the second victim as a 16-year-old from Plainview. The minor stated that Aguirre made a video of them having sexual intercourse in Plainview, which was the video found on Aguirre’s cell phone.
Aguirre now faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison, with the possibility of up to 30 years. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
The case was investigated by the Amarillo Police Department, Plainview Police Department, and the FBI’s Dallas Field Office.
