LUBBOCK COUNTY, TX – A high-speed chase in Lubbock County on March 31 ended with an arrest after the driver crashed his truck in Hockley County.
According to the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, the chase started around 8:50 p.m. when a Lubbock County deputy tried to pull over a 2013 black Chevrolet Silverado.
The Silverado was speeding over 100 mph on County Road 1100, near CR 6900. When the deputy turned on his emergency lights, the driver did not stop, and the deputy followed as the truck sped toward the Hockley/Lubbock County line. Additional deputies from both counties were notified as the pursuit continued.
About 11 minutes later, at around 9:01 p.m., the driver lost control and crashed the truck into a ditch. The vehicle came to a stop on Elk Road, near Lovebird Road, in Hockley County.
The driver was identified as Jesus Angel Gonzalez-Saldana, 27, and he had a teenage passenger.
Gonzalez-Saldana was arrested and taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center. He faces charges of Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle and Abandon/Endangerment of a Child-Imminent Danger and remains on a total bond of $40,000.
The teenage passenger, who is a minor, was released to a family member, and no injuries were reported.
