FBI, DPS Joint Op Busts Over 40 Tren de Aragua Members in Texas

AUSTIN, TX — More than 40 people, including minors, were arrested early Tuesday morning in Hays County as part of a large operation aimed at taking down the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

According to a release from DPS, this operation has been going on for over a year, with several agencies, including the FBI, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), and the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), working together to stop the gang’s violent activities.

The investigation has focused on members and associates of TdA who are involved in various illegal activities. Recently, the FBI gathered information that suggested members of the gang were planning to meet in Hays County.

Working alongside local law enforcement, the FBI, ICE, and Homeland Security Investigations, DPS obtained a search warrant for a home in the area.

The DPS Special Response Team carried out the search and arrested over 40 individuals at or near the residence. Police also seized narcotics during the operation.

The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected to be released as the case develops.
