Frisco Teen Charged with Murder After Fatal Stabbing at Track Meet

 

FRISCO, TX – A 16-year-old student died Wednesday morning after being stabbed during an altercation at a track meet in Frisco, police said.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. in the 6900 block of Stadium Lane. Emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures, including CPR and the administration of blood, but the victim did not survive, according to the Frisco Police Department.

The suspect, identified as 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony of Frisco, was taken into custody at the scene and has been charged with murder, a first-degree felony. No bond has been set.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation with resources from FPD's School Resource Division, Patrol Division, and Criminal Investigations Division devoted to it," Frisco Police said in a statement.

Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the public. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Frisco Police Department’s non-emergency line at 972-292-6010 or submit a tip via Tip411 by texting FRISCOPD and the message to 847411.

“The Frisco Police Department grieves with all those affected by this devastating loss and extends its deepest condolences to the victim's family, students, and staff who are experiencing unimaginable pain,” the statement read.

Frisco ISD officials are working closely with law enforcement and are providing support to the school community.
