Teen Suspect in Road Rage Shooting Turns Himself In

LUBBOCK, TX — The Lubbock Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a shooting in North Lubbock on April 6th, leaving a man injured.

According to a release from the Lubbock Police Department, officers responded to a shots-fired call at 9:41 p.m. in the 2500 block of Auburn Street. When authorities arrived, they found Xavier Guzman, 25, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Guzman was transported to Covenant Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Investigators say Guzman was riding in a car with three other adults and two children when their vehicle was cut off by a white Chevrolet Impala near North University Avenue and Clovis Road. This led to a road rage incident, and the two vehicles eventually pulled into a parking lot near a Little Caesars in the 2500 block of Auburn Street. A physical altercation broke out, and an unknown suspect fired shots, hitting Guzman.

The suspect fled the scene in the white Chevrolet Impala with Texas license plate VPS3069.

The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit later obtained an arrest warrant for Zoryan Puente, 18, charging him with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Puente later arrived at LPD headquarters to speak with detectives and was arrested after he turned himself in shortly after 5 p.m. He has been booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
