Teen Sentenced to 30 Years for 2023 Littlefield Murder

 

LITTLEFIELD, TX — A Littlefield teen has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after a 2023 murder that claimed the life of a 30-year-old.

According to the Littlefield Police Department, the incident occurred on January 30, 2023, when Littlefield Police were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of Cole Street. 

Officers arrived around 11:00 p.m. and found Jimenez unresponsive with a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators later discovered that the victim’s car and other personal belongings were missing.

Authorities eventually identified then-17-year-old Edwin Gutierrez of Littlefield as the suspect responsible for Jimenez’s death and the theft.

Gutierrez was taken into custody on May 3, 2023, and booked into the Lamb County Jail, where he has remained awaiting trial.

On April 10, 2025, Gutierrez appeared before the 154th District Court and entered a guilty plea to the charge of murder. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

In a statement, the Littlefield Police Department expressed gratitude to the Lamb County District Attorney’s Office, Texas Rangers Company C, and the Lubbock Police Department for their assistance throughout the investigation.
