LUBBOCK, TX — A former Special Investigator with the Lubbock Police Department was arrested following a "demand-reduction operation" conducted by LPD’s Vice Unit in South Lubbock.
According to a press release, Eric Harris, 68, was taken into custody on April 14, after allegedly soliciting prostitution during an undercover sting. The Vice Unit began operations on April 13, and the following day, Harris made contact with an undercover officer and arranged to meet at a local hotel, says LPD.
He was arrested shortly before 12:30 p.m. and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center. Harris faces a charge of Solicitation of Prostitution, which is classified as a State Jail Felony and can be punishable by 180 days to 2 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
Harris previously retired from LPD as a detective in August 2020 but returned to the department in January 2023 in a civilian role as a Special Investigator.
The case remains under investigation. Updates will be provided as more information is revealed.
