Police ID Man Killed in Early Sunday Shooting

 

LUBBOCK, TX – Lubbock Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened early Sunday morning in North Lubbock.

Officers were called to the 1800 block of Clovis Road just after 2 a.m. on April 14 after reports of gunshots in the area. When authorities arrived, they found Joshua Rios, 38, with serious injuries.

According to investigators, Rios got into an argument with several people inside a nearby business. The altercation continued outside, where things escalated, and shots were fired. Rios was hit during the gunfire, says LPD.

He was taken to University Medical Center by EMS, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Police say the shooting was an isolated incident. So far, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
