Drunk Biker Squirms Out of Cuffs Then Floods Jail with Toilet Water

LUBBOCK, TX — A man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly crashed his motorcycle while intoxicated, became aggressive with officers, and flooded his jail cell when booked after his arrest.

According to court documents, Lubbock Police officers responded to a call on April 13 about a crash near Erskine Street and North Belmont Avenue. When authorities arrived, they found Charles Hardcastle, 36, picking up his motorcycle.

Hardcastle was involved in a crash and had dirt and scrapes on him after he was allegedly hit by a car.

The responding officer noted a strong smell of alcohol on Hardcastle and said his eyes were glossy and that he was swaying as he spoke. Hardcastle claimed he came from "the store" and pointed north when asked where he had been. Court documents state there were no stores north of the crash. He also told police he had been heading south when the crash occurred, though tire marks at the scene showed he had been traveling north.

Based on the officer’s observations and not being able to comprehend where he was at or where he was going, Hardcastle was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center.

During the trip, the arresting officer stated Hardcastle became belligerent. He reportedly slipped his handcuffs from his back to his chest, threatened to assault the officer when they arrived, unbuckled his seatbelt, and attempted to pry open the vehicle’s divider. Court documents state he also tried to open the doors of the patrol car while it was in motion.

Once at the jail, Hardcastle allegedly kicked at an officer during booking and later flooded his holding cell by shoving his socks down the toilet.

In addition to the original DWI charge, Hardcastle is now facing charges of Obstruction/Retaliation and Assault on a Peace Officer. His total bond was set at $15,000.
