LUBBOCK, TX — A violent brawl outside a popular Lubbock college bar Sunday evening left one man unconscious in the parking lot and resulted in the arrests of three men, police said.
According to court documents, Lubbock Police were called to Logie’s on Overton at 2322 Mac Davis Lane on April 27 in response to a fight in progress. When officers arrived, they found a man unconscious on the ground. Witnesses said that a group of people attacked the victim after a separate fight took place inside the bar.
One witness identified a man known as "AG," wearing a pink hoodie and pink shoes, as one of the men who attacked the man on the ground. Video footage from one of the witnesses provided to officers showed multiple people surrounding the man, punching and kicking him while he was on the ground.
Another witness helped officers locate the suspects with a live location from their phone at the U Club Apartments, just down the street from Logie’s. The witness provided names and Instagram profiles, identifying “Nigel,” “Arshawn Green,” and “Tre” as a few names in part of the assault, but said there were “so many people kicking” and did not know everyone in the dogpile.
Police officers later responded to one of the two apartments listed by a witness, where Arshawn Green, 22, exited when officers knocked on the door. He matched the description given by witnesses, wearing the same pink hoodie and shoes seen in the video.
Green initially denied being in the fight, but after officers showed him the footage, he admitted he was a part of it. The video showed Green punching and kicking the man while he was on the ground, and it appeared he was kicking towards his head. The footage showed an unidentified male stomping on the man’s face with his heel while the victim was on the ground, causing him to go unconscious.
After watching the video, Green admitted to being at the scene, claiming he was defending a friend. Court documents state officers did not believe the attack was self-defense and arrested Green for Aggravated Assault and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.
After being placed in handcuffs, Green resisted and pulled away from officers, forcing them to restrain him on the ground. As they brought him to the patrol car, a handgun fell from his jeans. Green also attempted to flee while being searched in handcuffs.
Another set of officers went to another apartment mentioned by a witness and found Nigel Branscomb, 20, a few feet outside the front door. When questioned, Branscomb gave multiple false names and spellings before eventually admitting his identity.
Branscomb’s pants were falling, and officers recognized his light blue underwear from the witness video, which showed him kicking the victim in the head while another suspect, later identified as Humza Clemons, 20, held the victim down. The footage shown to Branscomb also showed that the victim was knocked unconscious by the stomp to the face from an unidentified male.
Branscomb eventually gave officers his correct name and was found to have an outstanding warrant for Providing False or Fictitious Information, with a bond set at $150,000.
Arshawn Green, Nigel Branscomb, and Humza Clemons were arrested and booked at the Lubbock County Detention Center. However, court documents did not state where Clemons was during his arrest.
Arshawn Green faces charges of Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, and Resisting Arrest. His total bond remains at $26,500.
Nigel Branscomb faces charges of Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, and Failure to Identify with Intent to Give False Information. With his listed warrant, Bransomb’s total bond remains at $176,000.
Humza Clemons faces charges of Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, and Possession of Marijuana <2oz. As of April 29, LCDC has received Clemons’ bond.
