Police Investigate Body Found Near Ervin Elementary School

 

LUBBOCK, TX — A person was found dead early Thursday morning near the perimeter of Ervin Elementary School in Lubbock, according to Lubbock Police and Lubbock ISD.

Officers responded to a call in the 1800 block of East 28th Street at around 7:20 a.m., where they found a body near the edge of the school’s property. Emergency crews arrived shortly after and quickly secured the area.

According to Lubbock ISD, the person was not a student or child, and there is no threat to students or staff. Classes continued as scheduled, and school officials say they are working to support anyone who may be impacted.

Police and the medical examiner are still investigating, and the area remains taped off.

The district thanked families for their patience and praised the quick response from law enforcement.
