HIDALGO COUNTY, TX – A fugitive on Texas' 10 Most Wanted list has been captured in South Texas.
Eliud Perez Reyes, 45, was arrested on Monday, May 26, in Palmview, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Reyes, who had outstanding warrants in multiple counties, was taken into custody after a traffic stop near US-83 Business and Bentsen Palm Drive.
Highway Patrol Troopers stopped a white 2014 Ford Escape driven by Reyes. During the stop, Reyes initially gave officers a false name, resulting in an additional charge of failure to identify as a fugitive from justice. The Palmview Police Department assisted in the operation.
Reyes had been wanted in Hidalgo County since December 2024 on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, sexual assault, and assault of a family or household member by impeding breath or circulation. He was also wanted in Fayette County on a January 2025 warrant for property theft.
Despite his inclusion on the state’s most wanted list, no Crime Stoppers reward will be issued for Reyes’ arrest.
Texas Crime Stoppers, funded by the Governor’s Public Safety Office, offers cash rewards for tips that lead to the arrest of fugitives, sex offenders, and criminal illegal immigrants on the state’s most wanted lists.
So far in 2025, authorities have captured 30 individuals from those lists, including eight sex offenders and nine criminal illegal immigrants, with $25,000 in rewards paid to tipsters.
