LUBBOCK, TX – According to the Lubbock-Cooper ISD food service website, elementary schools within the Lubbock-Cooper Independent School District have qualified for free meals for the 2024-2025 academic year through the Community Eligibility Provision of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.
The Community Eligibility Provision ensures that “healthy breakfasts and lunches will be provided each day at no charge for all LCISD elementary students,” the website states.
Central Elementary, East Elementary, North Elementary, South Elementary, and West Elementary will all qualify for free meals.
Meal prices for all LCISD secondary campuses (Lubbock-Cooper High School, Liberty High School, New Hope Academy, Lubbock-Cooper Middle School, and Laura Bush Middle School) will be $2.00 for student breakfast and $3.25 for student lunches.
Children in grades 6-12 might qualify for free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). To determine if your household's children are eligible, complete the Application for Free and Reduced-Price Meals online or on paper.
As mentioned in the LCISD report, some other important information about applying for free and reduced-price meals is as follows:
- Any family can apply. There is no penalty for families who apply and do not qualify.
- Families who have not qualified in the past may qualify this year, as income eligibility qualifications have been adjusted.
- The application and free or reduced-price meal status are completely confidential. Teachers, administrators, and fellow students do not have access to this information and will have no way of knowing throughout the school year which children qualify for free and reduced-price meals.
- Children who qualify for free or reduced-price meals have the same food options as children who do not qualify. There are no “special lunch lines” or different menu items for qualifying students.
