PLAINVIEW, TX — On Thursday, December 12, Wayland Baptist University announced it will freeze tuition for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The decision is the first of its kind in more than two decades, according to a press release from WBU President Dr. Donna Hedgepath, who explained that the freeze is meant to help students and their families with financial concerns.
“We understand the financial worries that keep students and parents up at night,” Dr. Hedgepath said. “This decision is about making sure dreams stay within reach and showing that we care about our community.”
The freeze will apply to all tuition rates, including undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral programs, both online and in-person. This decision is a part of Wayland Baptist’s mission to keep education affordable and accessible to everyone.
“This tuition freeze is not just about money; it shows who we are as a university,” Dr. Hedgepath said. “We know how tough things are financially right now, and we’re committed to helping students succeed, whether they’re just starting out or working adults balancing school and life.”
Dr. Hedgepath also mentioned that the freeze is part of the university’s long-term plans to support its diverse student body and stay true to its values. “This is our gift to students this Christmas and a reminder that Wayland cares about both affordability and excellence,” she said.
The university also announced in the release that it will continue to support active-duty military students by matching their tuition costs to the Tuition Assistance cap so they can pursue their education without extra financial stress.
