Texas Tech University President Hospitalized

 

LUBBOCK, TX — Texas Tech University President Lawrence Schovanec has been hospitalized due to a medical emergency. Texas Tech University System Chancellor Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D. issued a statement on Monday night, June 10, around 7:30 p.m.

"Late Monday afternoon (June 10, 2024), Texas Tech University President Lawrence Schovanec experienced a medical emergency and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment," Mitchell said. "He is currently in stable condition and in good spirits."

"Our entire Texas Tech University System is keeping President Schovanec and his family in our thoughts and prayers. I am working closely with University leadership and will continue to provide updates as they become available."
