Former Texas Tech QB Causes Stir Online Over Lubbock Comments

LOUISVILLE, KY – A former Texas Tech Quarterback had some words to say about Lubbock on a news radio show in Louisville, Kentucky this morning.

On a commercial A.M. news station, 840 WHAS, sportscaster Paul Rogers asked Shough what Lubbock, Texas was like while he was here during his tenure.

Shough jokingly replied, “Well… it smells like cow **** and wind. There’s not much else out there other than drinkin’ beer and doing nothing.”

“Really, it's just the university there,” Shough added. “It's kind of nice being out here [Louisville] where there's a lot of great food spots, a lot of really cool people, and a lot more stuff to do.”

Although Lubbock is not Louisville, there are a plethora of places to eat that rival even the metroplex, it seems like Lubbock opens new businesses and restaurants every week.

Tyler Shough, now starting quarterback for the Louisville Cardinals, was at Texas Tech for 3 years while facing a string of injuries. In 2021, Shough faced a collarbone fracture, a shoulder injury in 2022, and a broken fibula in the 2023 season.

After missing so much time, Shough didn’t exactly light up the stat books for the Red Raiders in 2023. He threw for 746 yards on 67/111 passing with seven touchdowns and four interceptions.

With the emergence of Behren Morton, the Red Raiders' current starting quarterback, Shough decided to transfer to Louisville in the off-season.
