LUBBOCK, TX – The 25th annual Hub City BBQ Cookoff is set to return this October at the Panhandle South Plains Fairground featuring nearly 100 competing cooking teams and live music from the 806 Duo and Hub City Drifters.
According to a press release, the cookoff will take place on October 3, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and is hosted by the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce and presented by the West Texas Land Guys.
Teams compete for top BBQ bragging rights in several categories, including brisket, pork ribs, beans, Bloody Marys, dessert, and a mystery challenge sponsored by the event's official grocer, United Supermarkets, according to the press release.
Attendees of the event will have the chance to sample some of the best BBQ this state has to offer while enjoying live music throughout the event.
The entertainment will begin with Lubbock favorites Bo Garza and Jake Pyeatt of the 806 Duo, performing from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Following them, the tribute group renowned for their praise of classic country stars, Panhandle heroes, and West Texas legends, the Hub City Drifters, will take the stage at 6:30 p.m.
The release states all BBQ team registrations will close on Monday, September 16 and all participating teams must be members of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce. To register a team for the cookoff, click here.
