Covenant Health Announces UMC on Full Diversion

LUBBOCK, TX — Covenant Health announced on Thursday morning, September 26, that University Medical Center is on full diversion. Covenant Health made the announcement in a Facebook Post.

"This morning, we were notified University Medical Center is on full diversion," the post read. "Covenant Medical Center and Covenant Children’s will continue to care for patients who come to the emergency department."

Full diversion essentially means that the hospital is no longer accepting new patients. This is not a rare occurrence, but it happens occasionally. While UMC might be at capacity, Covenant Health offered other options for medical treatment, including emergency medical care.

"The Covenant Health Emergency Centers on Quaker and Milwaukee Avenues are also open to provide emergency services to our community," the post concluded.

As a reminder, the hospital is still open to provide care in the emergency department. UMC is located at 602 Indiana Avenue. Covenant Children's Hospital Emergency Department is located at 4015 22nd Pl.
