LUBBOCK, TX — On October 1, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety will escort fallen Trooper Kevin Alexis Ramirez Vasquez from Resthaven Funeral Home to Lubbock Aero, located at 6304 N. Cedar Ave. Members of the Lubbock Police Department and Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office will assist with traffic direction along the route.

According to a press release, the procession will begin at Resthaven Funeral Home, proceeding north on Frankford Ave to State Loop 289. From there, the escort will exit onto N. Interstate 27 and continue north to Exit 9 (Keuka Street).

Trooper Ramirez Vasquez, 25, tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while investigating a traffic crash along SH 302 on September 17.

He was initially taken to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa before being airlifted to a Lubbock-area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on September 28.

A dedicated public servant, Trooper Ramirez Vasquez joined the DPS in 2023 and was stationed in Odessa. He previously served in the United States Army and was a member of the National Guard.

His passing marks the 241st line-of-duty death for the DPS since its establishment in 1823, said the release.
