LUBBOCK, TX — The Alzheimer's Association invites the Lubbock community to participate in the 2024 Walk to End Alzheimer's on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Adventure Park.
The event will kick off at 9:00 a.m. with registration and activities. The opening ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m., followed by the walk at 10:30 a.m. Participants will enjoy a day filled with passion and purpose, featuring a Promise Garden Ceremony, information booths from local vendors and sponsors, and various goodies.
This annual event serves as the largest support gathering of the year, offering a meaningful opportunity for families and organizations to come together in remembrance and celebration of the strides being made toward a world free of Alzheimer's disease and all forms of dementia.
Participants can stop by the VENUE on Broadway to "Check-In" for the Walk before event day. Here, you can get your entry wristband and skip the line on Saturday. Additionally, committee members will be available to answer any questions, assist with in-person registration, collect fundraising dollars, and discuss opportunities to serve on the 2025 planning committee.
Each registered participant will receive a Promise Garden flower, symbolizing their connection to Alzheimer's. The flower colors have specific meanings: blue for those living with the disease, purple for those who have lost someone to it, yellow for caregivers, and orange for supporters of the cause.
While strollers are welcome, the event discourages skateboards, bicycles, inline skates, and wheelie footwear for safety reasons. Well-behaved dogs on leashes may also be permitted.
For those unable to attend on the walk day, registration is still encouraged. Participants can indicate their non-attendance while still contributing to the cause.
