LUBBOCK, TX — The Hub City BBQ Cookoff returns for its 25th year at the South Plains Fairgrounds, hosted by the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce.

Hosted by West Texas Land Guys, the Hub City invites residents to the fairgrounds to network with over 97 local businesses, enjoy delicious barbecue and beverages, and listen to live music from local musicians. United Supermarkets takes center stage as the official grocer for the event, offering brisket, ribs, and a surprise mystery meat for participants to cook up.
The event schedule is listed below and the 1st – 9th place winners will be announced in each category after the competition.

- 10:45 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. | BBQ Competition
- 4:00 p.m. | Team Awards
- 5:00 p.m. | Doors Open to Ticket Holders and Entertainment Begins
- 8:00 p.m. | Event Concludes
Robert Wood, co-owner of West Texas Land Guys, shared, “There's a strong sense of camaraderie among all of us. It’s a great time for the whole team to come together and enjoy each other's company. It's also a great team-building event that brings the public in to enjoy their time together with some good barbeque.”
While the cook-off officially kicks off on Thursday, many participating businesses take advantage of Wednesday to set everything up, bond, and fire up their grills. The public is invited to join in the fun on October 3rd, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
“There's a lot of interest in experiencing the event, with 97 different chamber participants and local business leaders coming together to give back to the community. This barbecue cook-off is a fantastic way to do that,” affirmed Wood.
The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce is hosting the cookoff and represents over 1,400 member businesses in and around the Lubbock area. The non-profit organization provides unique opportunities for business development, networking, and influence in the business community.
Chair and Secretary of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Beth Lawson and Kay McDowell expressed why this event is important to the Lubbock community. “For the Lubbock business community, tonight is the night where everyone really bonds and connects with each other.” “It's also a fun and unique opportunity for these businesses to interact with their consumers,” said McDowell.
The Hub City BBQ Cookoff opens to the public on Thursday, October 3. Limited tickets are still available and can be purchased here. They are priced at $50 for adults and $20 for children ages 6-10.
