UMC Works to Restore Services After Cybersecurity Incident

LUBBOCK, TX — UMC is making strides to restore services across its network after a recent cybersecurity incident that also affected the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center.

In a recent statement, UMC reported that its phone systems are functioning normally, stating, “We expect to make substantial progress throughout the next few days.” Initially, the hospital had to divert patients to nearby facilities, including Covenant, due to the IT outages.

Now, only a limited number of patients are being redirected, and UMC’s Emergency Center has resumed accepting patients via ambulance.

UMC has announced the opening of its new 24/7 Urgent Care Clinic at the Health & Wellness Hospital. The clinic began accepting patients on October 1.
