Woody’s Pizza Grill & Pub Closes After Nine Years

LUBBOCK, TX — Woody’s Pizza Grill & Pub, located at 3135 34th Street, has announced its closure this week, less than a month after Woody’s Burger Barn closed. The restaurant posted on social media, stating, “We have reached the end of Woodys.”

The last day Woody’s Pizza Grill & Pub will be open is October 31.

The business is currently finding a new tenant to take over its lease.

The grill and pub said the rising food costs, utilities, and overall business expenses are factors in their closing decision.

“The rising food prices, utilities, and cost of doing business have gone up 300 to 400% of what it was four years ago. We are not able to come back from the financial strain,” said the post.

Woody’s Pizza Grill & Pub has been a staple in Lubbock for 9 years. Its newer location, Woody’s Burger Barn, opened at 10007 Slide Road in May but recently closed.

"I personally made several bad decisions by trying to open the Slide location," the owner stated, inviting anyone interested in taking over the lease to reach out. “This will be a turnkey restaurant.”

As Lubbock says goodbye to Woody’s, rising operational costs continue to affect local businesses across town in the last year.
