LUBBOCK, TX — Local iconic country band, Flatland Cavalry, was presented with a special recognition during their concert at The Buddy Holly Hall last night. The surprise honor was given by Mayor Mark McBrayer, who honored the band’s success and their representation of Lubbock’s music scene.
Flatland Cavalry is known for their blend of Americana and country music, and is comprised of vocalist Cleto Cordero, drummer Jason Albers, bassist Jonathan Saenz, guitarist Reid Dillon, and violinist Laura Jane. Jane departed the band in July 2018 and was replaced by Wesley Hall. The band has gained both local and national attention, and was surprised by the recognition, which included a certificate signed by Mayor McBrayer and the Lubbock City Council.
Dan Pope, Board Chair of the Lubbock Entertainment and Performing Arts Association, expressed pride in the band’s accomplishments over the years. “Their music captures the spirit of Lubbock, and it’s an honor to celebrate their success here at Buddy Holly Hall,” Pope said.
Mayor McBrayer noted Lubbock's musical heritage, saying, “Lubbock is the Music Crossroads of Texas. While we celebrate our history, it’s important to recognize and support the talented musicians making music today.” He added that the community is “extremely proud” of Flatland Cavalry’s impact both locally and nationally.
Flatland Cavalry will perform again tonight, November 8, at The Buddy Holly Hall. Last minute tickets can be purchased here.
