LUBBOCK, TX — As the holiday travel season approaches, Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport offers tips to make your trip more comfortable.

Packing:

  • Check your carry-on for prohibited items and avoid packing valuables or medications in checked bags.
  • If traveling with hunting or hobby gear, ensure there are no unintended prohibited items.

Before You Go:

  • Arrive at least 90 minutes before your flight's scheduled boarding time.
  • Confirm your flight status with your airline.
  • Print your boarding pass or use an electronic version.
  • Bring a government-issued photo ID for all adult passengers.

  • Parking near the terminal will fill up quickly. For additional covered parking, use Airport Shelter Park, which offers a free shuttle to the terminal. Call 806-744-1004 for rates and hours.

Checking In:

  • If you’re checking a bag, drop it off at the ticket counter.
  • If you checked in online and don’t have a checked bag, go directly to the TSA security line.
  • Allow extra time if traveling with children, elderly passengers, or pets.
  • A Service Animal Relief Area (SARA) is available near Gates 6 and 7 for those traveling with service animals.

Picking Up Passengers:

  • Use the Cell Phone Waiting Area to park and wait for passengers to call you when they’re ready.
