LUBBOCK, TX — Lubbock Fire Rescue responded to a gas leak in the 5700 block of 66th Street.
According to a post from Lubbock Fire Rescue, emergency crews were called after initial readings revealed gas levels ranging from 14% to 20% Lower Explosive Limit (LEL). This potentially hazardous range prompted immediate action.
As a safety precaution, Lubbock Fire Rescue has issued an evacuation order for one apartment building in the area, requiring evacuations at the 10% LEL threshold. Fire officials are continuing to monitor atmospheric conditions to ensure the safety of residents and responders.
Both LP&L and ATMOS Energy were on site to assist in the response. ATMOS has successfully isolated the supply line, which is expected to help mitigate further risks.
Authorities urge residents to avoid the area as crews resolve the situation.
