House Fire in Central Lubbock Leaves One in Critical Condition

 

LUBBOCK, TX — A person is in critical condition following an early morning structure fire in central Lubbock on Monday, December 9.

According to a press release, Lubbock Fire Rescue responded to a residential fire at the 1700 block of 42nd Street. 911 callers reported a house on fire with one person possibly trapped inside.

Upon arrival, Engine 8 found heavy flames coming from the front of the structure. Firefighters quickly deployed an attack line for both fire suppression and a primary search. During the search, crews located one person inside the home. They were transported to the University Medical Center's Burn Unit and are currently listed in critical condition.

The Lubbock Fire Rescue Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the blaze, and the American Red Cross is assisting one displaced resident from the home.
