LUBBOCK, TX — Early Saturday morning, Lubbock Fire Rescue responded to a report of smoke coming from the vents of an apartment at The Dominion, located in the 5500 block of 50th Street.
Crews were dispatched at approximately 3:50 a.m. on December 14 to respond to a 911 call from a tenant who reported smoke inside their apartment. The response included a single box alarm, four fire engines, one truck, and two battalion chiefs.
When Lubbock Fire arrived, Engine 9 found the large two-story apartment complex with no visible signs of fire from the exterior. After entering the unit, Engine 9 made its way to the attic space, where firefighters discovered heavy smoke and fire.
Battalion 2 then decided to call for a second alarm response, requesting additional apparatus, resources, and manpower due to the building's complicated layout and where the fire was located.
After the quick actions of Engine 9 and Engine 18, the fire was contained in the attic and damaged only one apartment. All occupants were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
The Lubbock Fire Rescue Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
Further updates will be provided as more information is available.
