Delays and Closures Across the South Plains

LUBBOCK, TX — Due to icy road conditions, most schools, government offices, and businesses across the South Plains will operate with delays or closures on Thursday, January 9.

Below is a list of delays and closures in the South Plains area:

Public & Private Schools:

• Abernathy ISD: Canceled
• Anton ISD: Two-hour delay
• Christ the King Schools: Two-hour delay
• Condra School: Two-hour delay
• Floydada ISD: 10:00 a.m. start
• Frenship ISD: Two-hour delayed start
• Hale Center ISD: 10:00 a.m. start (buses will run on pavement only)
• Idalou ISD: 10:00 a.m. start
• Kingdom Preparatory Academy: Cancelling 8:00 a.m. classes, delaying 9:30 a.m. classes to 10:00 a.m.
• Lazbuddie ISD: 10:00 a.m. start
• Lorenzo ISD: 10:00 a.m. start
• Lubbock ISD: Two-hour delay
• Lubbock Cooper ISD: On time, no delay
• Lubbock Christian Schools: Two-hour delay
• Meadow ISD: Two-hour delay (buses will run on pavement only)
• New Deal ISD: Canceled
• New Home ISD: 10:00 a.m. start (buses will run on pavement only)
• Petersburg ISD: 9:45 a.m. delayed start
• Premier High School: 10:00 a.m. start
• Ropes ISD: Two-hour delay
• Slaton ISD: Canceled. Friday will be a 10:00 a.m. start with buses running on pavement only.
• Shallowater ISD: Canceled
• Sharp Academy: 10:00 a.m. start
• Southcrest Christian School: 10:00 a.m. start
• Sundown ISD: Two-hour delay
• Texas Tech University: Campus opens at 11:00 a.m.
• TTUHSC: Campus opens at 10:00 a.m.
• Tas Montessori School: Two-hour delay
• Trinity Christian School: Two-hour delay
• Whiteface ISD: 10:00 a.m. start
• Wilson ISD: Canceled

Government & Other Services:

• Lubbock Central Appraisal District: Opening at 10:00 a.m.
• StarCare Specialty Health System: Two-hour delay
• Lorenzo Senior Citizens: Closed. Homebound in Ralls and Lorenzo will receive emergency meal bags.
• South Plains Rural Health Services (Levelland): Two-hour delay

Daycare & Preschool Facilities:

• Belle’s & Beau’s Childcare Center: Two-hour delay
• Calvary Weekday Ministries PDO Preschool and Kindergarten: Starts at 11:00 a.m.
• Eddie Richardson Headstart: Two-hour delay
• Little Precious Steps Daycare: Opening at 10:00 a.m.
• Little Wings School: Opening at 10:00 a.m.
• Trinity Christian School Childcare Center: Two-hour delay
• Shelby & Friends Childcare Center: Delayed until 9:00 a.m.
