Lubbock's Tacos and Tequila Festival is Cancelled

LUBBOCK, TX — The Tacos & Tequila Music Festival, originally scheduled for September 2024 and later postponed to this April, has officially been canceled, according to an announcement from the event organizers.

The festival was first set for September 7, 2024, at the Lonestar Amphitheater, with an impressive lineup including 311, the All-American Rejects, Hollywood Undead, and more. However, organizers moved the event to April 26-27, claiming "circumstances were beyond their control."

Most of the original headliners announced they would not return on the rescheduled dates.

The Tacos and Tequila Festival had rebranded as TEXXASFEST and announced that it would release information with "2 completely unique lineups" on its Facebook group. The new festival was supposed to be held at the Lonestar Amphitheater, but the new dates were changed to April 25-26. As of January 29, the website and ticket sales are still active but should not be purchased due to the cancellation.

The Lubbock community took to the comment section on a handful of posts, saying, "Just give it up. It's not happening."

Maximus Production Group is listed as the event organizer and promoter of the festivals. According to its LinkedIn profile, the company is based out of Boston, Massachusetts.

On January 28, organizers notified ticket holders in an email that the event had been canceled due to ongoing issues with the venue.

The email pointed out that the Lonestar Amphitheater has “deteriorated over time. " Despite efforts to maintain it, its conditions have become “unsafe for a large event.”

Many of the artists also noted the venue was not suitable for their performances, according to the message.

Organizers assured ticket holders that, beginning on February 10, refunds would be automatically issued to the card used for purchase.

Those who bought tickets at Ralph’s Records will need to return to the store for a refund, said the email.
