Silent Wings Museum Hosts Final "Connecting with Maps" Event

 

LUBBOCK, TX – The Silent Wings Museum will host the final presentation of Connecting with Maps on Saturday, March 15.

According to a press release, the event will run from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.. It will feature a presentation by a City of Lubbock Geographic Information Systems (GIS) professional explaining the technology and skills used to create maps essential to modern city infrastructure.

Children 13 and younger can color their own cloth maps and engage in map-related activities in the Hangar Gallery.

At 2:30 p.m., the program will compare how the communities of Lubbock, Texas, and Wesel, Germany, both of similar size, experienced the events of World War II. The discussion will also provide insights into the political and cultural geography of the Greater Southwest Region and Western Europe.

The program is family-friendly and includes museum admission, with activities tailored for visitors of all ages, said the release.
